Your career can be an adventure:
This is your great adventure, and we want it to be perfect. You can make selections from any of the activities described in the following tabs to form your ideal schedule. We recommend a four-week trip that looks something like this:
Week 1, and 2: Cultural Immersion, and Trekking Tour
We want you to feel welcome from the moment you arrive, so we’ve designed a Cultural Immersion Week to introduce you to the many experiences this incredible country has to offer. You’ll spend your first week exploring Kathmandu, and meeting the people who live there. We’ll introduce you to the local food, and even give you some language lessons so you can communicate with the people you meet on your adventure.
In the second week, you’ll visit the Royal Chitwan National Park and experience a wild side of Nepal. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including: tigers, crocodiles, and elephants, to name a few. You’ll experience a jungle safari, travelling the river in a canoe, and an elephant ride through the jungle. We’re confident that this will be an adventure to remember forever.

Weeks 3, and 4: Choose your project
In these weeks, your trip really becomes your own. You can choose to take part in whatever projects appeal to you the most; make your adventure whatever you want it to be.
Our monastery project in Nepal offers a unique opportunity to experience life at a Buddhist monastery, while teaching English to the monks who live there. You can experience the Buddhist lifestyle firsthand, and share you valuable skills with people who will really benefit from them. This is one of our most popular projects, and always gets a great response from our adventurers, and the monks themselves.
If you’re interested in Education, or childcare you might choose to volunteer in a local school, or orphanage. You’ll have the chance to experience the education system in a foreign country, while helping those who’ll really benefit from your skills.
Medical students can choose to work with doctors and nurses at the health clinics around Kathmandu. We’ll give you the chance to shadow medical practitioners in every aspect of their work, and help provide basic health checks to local people. You don’t need previous experience to be part of this project, but the more qualified you are, the more interactive your placement will be.
*For more information on any of these experiences click the tabs above.

Teach Buddhist Monks: a Religious Experience
If you’re interested in Buddhist culture and practices, then this project is just for you. You’ll spend four weeks teaching English in the Buddhist monastery in Nepal. The adults and children at the monastery spend most of their lives within its grounds, so our project is intended to provide them with a valuable chance to learn English from an international teacher.
You can live in the monastery itself, and experience the life of a Buddhist monk firsthand. We’re offering you a unique opportunity to learn more about this fascinating culture, and to share your cultural experiences with the people at the monastery.
This is one of our most popular projects in Nepal. Our adventurers always report that this project was a highlight, and it gets a great response from the monks too.
Cost
From €175 per week, all inclusive.
Schedule
You’ll be expected to teach at the monastery for one to two hours every day; after that you might teach for an additional one to two hours at a nearby school. You’ll have time in your schedule to plan lessons and materials, and evaluate the lessons you’ve delivered.
You’ll be teaching between 8 and 15 children when teaching at the monastery. You’ll be asked to teach children, and novice monks; and assist the other teachers at the monastery in learning English. You may also be asked to help support the monks with their projects and other studies.
You’ll be free during weekends to explore the region, or spend more time with the monks at the monastery. Spend your time however you choose.
Accommodation
During your placement, you can choose to stay at the monastery, or with a local family. You’re meals will be provided for you, but you can expect that many of your meals will be vegetarian dishes.
We want you to feel welcome during your stay, so don’t be afraid to ask for help whenever you need it; there’ll be plenty of people around who’ll be happy to help.
Teaching Placements: Helping the Children of Nepal
Whether you are a teacher, or just enjoy working with children, you should consider including this project in your adventure plans.
Our teaching placements are designed to give people who are interested in pursuing a career in a specific field their first taste of what it might be like. We also want them to provide professionals who’ve already chosen their career path a unique experience that will help them to develop new skills, and present new opportunities.
You don’t need to have any previous teaching experience to get involved with this project.
The Project
Throughout this project, you’ll be working with students at various schools; teaching English, or coaching them in Physical Education classes. You’ll be asked to help teach the children good social and moral skills, but there’ll also be opportunities to enjoy lighter, less serious classes on singing and dancing.
Schools accept a non-formal approach to teaching; you won’t have to conform to the local teaching methods or style, and everyone will be free to bring their own ideas into class. It is important to understand that the methods of teaching are less important to us than your attitude towards the students.
The aims of this project are to help local students improve their English skills; but also to present you with the opportunity to experience a different system of education, and build partnerships with other schools, and teachers around the world.
Some of our placements are only looking for unpaid volunteers, but the experiences that they offer are unique and invaluable to your career progression. New projects are cropping up all the time, so bookmark us to keep track of our future initiatives.
Check out our paid internships here.
Cost
€175 per week, all-inclusive
Schedule
You’ll be expected to teach each day during the week. Your timetable will be flexible, and will include plenty of time for you to plan, and prepare lessons; reflect, and evaluate on your work so far; and compare your experiences with other members of staff.
Bringing gifts to share with students, and staff members is often a great way to break the ice on your first day. In our experience, students are less interested in toys, but pictures of your family, home, or pet are always well received.
Accommodation
We want to do everything to make your stay here comfortable and exciting. Our Global Nomads will be staying together in shared dormitories at the centre nearby. You should expect to eat traditional Nepalese food, but there will be plenty of variety for you to choose from. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements, or allergies before you arrive, and we’ll make sure there is plenty for you to eat.
Childcare Placements: Volunteer at an Orphanage
People interested in following a career in social work or childcare might want to consider a placement at a Nepalese orphanage. Working with children can be a challenging, but hugely rewarding job. Volunteering at an orphanage offers you the chance to make a difference to the lives of children who have lost their parents, and who desperately need support and guidance. It’s a fantastic way to offer valuable help to people who need it, while still moving forward in your chosen profession.
The Project
We have fantastic relationships with many different orphanages in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan; we could arrange a placement in any of these locations.
The children at the orphanages range from between 5 to 14 years old, and each orphanage is home to around 14-25 children. You’ll help to improve the lives of the orphaned children by teaching them important lessons on cleanliness and personal care. You’ll be asked to teach English classes, and help with homework; play games, and provide fun activities for the children; as well as helping the other staff to keep the orphanage clean and tidy.
Cost
€175 per week, all-inclusive
Schedule
A typical day will involve cleaning the rooms in the orphanage; watering the garden; and playing games with the younger children who don’t attend school. Most orphanages in Nepal provide their own primary and secondary schools for their pupils to attend without leaving the site. If you’re interested in teaching the children at the orphanage, we could arrange for you to spend some of your time working in the schools.
Our coordinators will work closely with you when you arrive, and create a special program that suits your needs and skills. We’ll do everything to make sure that you get as much as possible from your placement, and that you enjoy your time with us.
You can take two days off during the week, but it’s often better if those are weekdays, rather than weekends. Because children don’t attend school during weekends, there’s always more to get involved with around the orphanage.

Medical Placement: Develop Your Skill in Kathmandu
A medical internship is a fantastic way to travel the world while still developing skills in your chosen profession. It can provide unique experiences that will help you to become a more rounded professional, and provide opportunities that could take your career anywhere in the world. A tropical climate will present you with challenges and experiences that you have never faced before. You will learn valuable techniques and skills that you couldn’t learn anywhere else.
You don’t need any previous experience to be involved with this project.
The Project
You’ll be working with the staff at a community health centre in Chapaguan, near Kathmandu. We’ll give you the opportunity to perform basic health checks in the clinic; observe Nepali doctors in hospitals; and practice key skills in your chosen field.
Qualified volunteers will be able to work more directly with other doctors, and patients at health camps in the nearby villages. Pre-medical students will have the opportunity to observe, and shadow the doctors in all aspects of their work throughout the placement.
Cost
€175 per week, all inclusive.
Schedule
You’ll be placed on a duty roster, and might be asked to work day or night shifts. You may be asked to remain “on-call” during your days off, and could be required to work in an emergency.
The internship last for one week, but it can be extended if you wish to stay for longer. Just contact us and we can plan your adventure together.

This two-week adventure begins in Kathmandu, where you’ll be invited to take part in Yoga classes, and meditation. You’ll also go sightseeing, and visit some of the region’s famous Buddhist, and Hindu temples.
We’ve designed this tour to include sensational scenery with cultural learning; we want to give you a real sense of how Nepalese people live, and show you the best that this country has to offer.
Are you feeling adventurous?
Cost
From €175 per week, all inclusive.

The first week will be spent in Kathmandu, experiencing its rich culture. You’ll have the chance to learn more about the spiritual lives of the people who live here; and immerse yourself in a wealth of history, tradition, and social experiences.
As you trek through the jungles and mountains in your second week, you’ll experience the awesome landscape, and unique beauty of Nepal. After spending three to four days trekking through various villages in the region, you’ll arrive at the Royal Chitwan National Park (RCNP).
Once there, you’ll spend two days on a jungle safari where you’ll see some of the many exotic and exciting species that live in Nepal; elephants, rhinoceros, tigers, and crocodiles are among the animals that you can expect to see. You might also have the chance to go canoeing, or ride an elephant while at the park.
Accommodation
Your first week will be spent at our centre in Kathmandu. You’ll be sharing a room with the other Global Nomads who are visiting, and will have plenty of free time to share your experiences.
You’ll trek through various towns and villages during the second week, and we’ll be staying in different guest houses along the way. Rooms are usually shared between two or three people, and will included bathrooms with plenty of hot water.
