Socio-Environmental Investigative Research - Peru
Location: Puno, Peru
Duration: Minimum 1 month, maximum 6 months

This placement is with the government body which regulates and conducts environmental research on the flora and fauna in and around Lake Titicaca. Your work will go towards guiding policy on environmental protection to the region.
You will work alongside local staff to help monitor and observe the wildlife and natural state of the lake. You will also be able to get involved in recommending and implementing changes to conservation efforts and initiatives, aswell as conduct sociological research.
There are many different areas of work and research in which you can get involved, including;
* Bird Monitoring and Observation
* "Tortora" Lake plant monitoring
* Monitoring of water quality
* Monitoring and damage control of fire damage
* Sociological studies in conjunction with local populations and their interaction with the lake
* Socio-economic studies related to helping local families utilise the resources of the lake in a sustainable manner
* Creating and implementing new sustainable measures and initiatives

You will be met at Juliaca airport by a project representative, and accompanied to the project HQ.
You will be staying with a host family, nearby to where you will be working in Puno. You will have a private room, shared bathroom (with hot water) and all meals provided. There is free filtered water aswell as laundry services available.
If you wish to stay long term (6 months or more) then we can help you find an apartment to rent.
* Min age 18 - Max age 80
* Minimum 3 months commitment - 30+ hours a week.
* Enthusiasm and interest to work in environmental research and conservation. Those with previous experience, or are studying relevant subjects encouraged to apply
* Basic - Intermediate level of Spanish (lessons available)

$850 USD Project Fee per month + £249 GBP Placement Fee
What's Included:
Project Fee includes all food, accommodation, airport pickup, orientation, 24 hour support and project activities.
We charge a flat, one-off Placement Fee of £249 GBP per person per project. This covers our costs for promoting the project and providing our services. We offer full pre-departure support (for all necessary flights, visas and vaccinations) and ongoing assistance throughout your placement.
What's not included:
Flights, insurance, visas (if applicable) and vaccinations. Full assistance will be provided in getting all these sorted.
