This placement is with a highly specialized government body, which works to investigate and implement the increase the quality of stock of Llamas, Vacunas and Alpacas in this Andean Region. Since the agrarian revolution in the mid 20th Century, there has been alot of loss of knowledge and experience of how to best manage Llama and Alpaca livestock. This government body was formed to reintroduce good livestock practice into the local population, investigate new and better ways to increase the quality of livestock, and implement initiatives to help develop this industry.
You will be be able to work and research the following areas;
* Laboratory work, processing and analysing samples
* Alimentation studies
* Artificial Insemination
* Invitro-fertilisation
* Embryonic Transfer
* Microbiology
* Genetic Research
* Reproductive research
* Educational seminars with the local farmers and staff
You will be given full support working alongside resident scientsts and staff. There are opportunities to conduct your own research questions. Get in touch with us to discuss your exact requirements.
You will be met at Juliaca airport by a project representative, and taken to the project location.
You will living in accommodation close to the project site. Living conditions are basic and very rural. You will share a dormitory and kitchen, alongside other interns and staff. You will spend Monday to Friday at the centre, and be free to travel to nearby Puno on weekends.

* Minimum 3 months commitment - 25+ hours a week.

$850 USD Project Fee per month + £249 GBP Placement Fee
What's Included:
Project Fee includes all food, accommodation, airport pickup, orientation, 24 hour support and project activities.
We charge a flat, one-off Placement Fee of £249 GBP per person per project. This covers our costs for promoting the project and providing our services. We offer full pre-departure support (for all necessary flights, visas and vaccinations) and ongoing assistance throughout your placement.
What's not included:
Flights, insurance, visas (if applicable) and vaccinations. Full assistance will be provided in getting all these sorted.
